Each year, we rely on the expertise and talents of nearly 300 volunteers to deliver high quality, outcome driven programs. Our volunteer counselors come from all over the world and range in age from 19 to 70 years-old. Camp allows children and their families the opportunity to have fun, peace, adventure and a chance to be themselves. RMHCSC Celebrates 30 years of helping local community organizations throughout Southern California that benefit children through our Community Grants program. The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House expanded its services, opening a new building adjacent to the original facility.

Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times

Located steps from Miller Children’s Hospital, the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House provides the families of critically ill children with a safe and supportive place to stay. Research shows that a family's presence in the hospital helps children heal. Staying close by allows parents to better communicate with their child's medical team and improves adherence to complicated treatment plans. These are only some of the reasons that make Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California an important organization.

Staying at the House

The Dining Hall/Activity Center increased camps capacity to serve campers by 25% and also allowed year-round programs with two new multi-purpose areas for activities and meetings. The desire for a program that supported the unique needs of families with critically ill children quickly spread to other cities. The Southern California chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) began in 1977 with the planning of the region's first Ronald McDonald House in Los Angeles blocks from Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Volunteer groups and community organizations show their love of families by hosting incredible holiday-focused events throughout the year, including parties, special meals, music and/or field trips. Reflecting the diverse communities we serve, most of our staff and FSS team is bilingual.

Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® creates a positive long-lasting impact on children with cancer and their families by providing fun-filled, medically supervised, cost-free, year-round camp programs. Camp programs provide children with cancer and families the opportunity to pause, connect with others who are facing similar challenges, and renew a sense of hope. We help youth build courage and independence, and experience a sense of belonging in a healing, medically safe environment. The 23-room Long Beach Ronald McDonald House is located on the Long Beach Memorial Hospital campus and welcomes families of seriously-ill children receiving treatment at Miller Children's Hospital and other nearby medical facilities. I am proud to share a snapshot of the life-changing support and services the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House provided for hundreds of families with critically ill and injured children throughout 2023.

This location includes an additional 40 rooms as well as the administrative offices for our Los Angeles, Chapter and Camp Ronald McDonald staff. Visitors and volunteers may park in our Helms Visitors Lot, located directly in front of the building. Residents with a keycard may park in the underground garage, with its entrance off of Lyman Place and just south of the building’s front door. Noah and Melissa neeed a place to stay when their daughter Sadie was rushed to the hospital after a seizure.

Seeing the number of families impacted by the Family Room program, the Orange County House opened a second Ronald McDonald Family Room at CHOC Children's in Orange extending its services and family-centered care services.

Family Support Services (FSS) provides emotional support, education and resources to the families and staff of the Ronald McDonald House. Individuals, couples, and entire families are served in the privacy of the FSS offices, around the House, in the kitchen, playroom, on Zoom, or wherever a person feels most comfortable. FSS not only offers support to individual families, but also plans and manages House therapeutic activities such as Fun Clubs, holiday activities, and special events that provide a caring, supportive, and fun environment for all. FSS provides support and training for the staff at the Ronald McDonald House. This helps staff handle their own stress and feelings, which enables them to provide even better customer service to families.

For Families

Since opening in 2011, the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House has provided comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California. Our hope is to create a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage and joy by keeping families close to each other and the care they need. Since opening in 1980, the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House has provided comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California. The Long Beach House joined more than 300 other Ronald McDonald Houses in 58 countries and regions around the world. Locally, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California operates Houses in Bakersfield, Loma Linda, Los Angeles, Orange, and Pasadena. RMHCSC continues to work to help to keep families, communities, and patients close. Construction for the House began in 1978 on Fountain Avenue across the street from Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The first Ronald McDonald House to be built from the ground up (previous Houses had been renovated homes), the 11,970 square foot, 16-room facility opened on September 14, 1980. Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times opened a state of the art 12,000 square foot Dining Hall/Activity Center.

Yet, simply because we don’t have enough sleeping rooms around the world, 138,000+ families are turned away each year. Your donation can help us to expand to fulfill the needs of more sick children and their families.

Research has shown that interactions with animals can positively impact a child’s health. Our House hosts specially trained and certified miniature horses, dogs and bunnies -- bringing smiles and joy to the families and children staying at our House. Fourteen years later, a new 27,780 square foot, 16-room and garage addition was dedicated on April 30, 1994. A unique feature of our House is the long-term housing wing that was designed to meet the special needs of bone-marrow transplant patients. Treatment for these patients requires an extensive hospital stay, anywhere from two to eight months, and the apartment-style wing provides an atmosphere that feels more like home. Because transplant patients are highly susceptible to infections, the units also have individual ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Ronald McDonald Houses located throughout Southern California help families stay close to their child when they need treatment for a serious medical condition. Our Houses provide a home-like setting, close to the region's top hospitals, where families can stay free-of charge for as long as necessary. We provide compassionate emotional support for children, parents and families whether that be in our FSS office, in the playroom or kitchen, walking to the hospital with you or over Zoom. This care and support for families continues after you leave the House, and for those who return. On Valentine's Day, RMHCSC celebrated the opening of the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE INLAND EMPIRE

Ten years after opening, the Orange County Ronald McDonald House extended its services to inside the hospital setting by opening a Ronald McDonald Family Room® inside CHOC Children's at Mission in Mission Viejo. The Family Room allows families to rest and recharge while remaining steps from a pediatric or neonatal intensive care unit. A group of caring individuals teamed up to give children with cancer and their siblings an opportunity to “take a break” from their illness to just be “ordinary kids” enjoying the therapeutic benefits of the outdoors. Today, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® is situated in the picturesque San Jacinto Mountains near Idyllwild and offers year-round programs for children with cancer and families at no-cost.

Cruise America also imposes a generator fee of $3.50 per hour. This fee will be collected upon return based on the onboard running time meter. There is also an option of purchasing unlimited generator usage at an $8 daily rate. Compared to peer-to-peer renting, Cruise America certainly offers a couple of good things for the money.

Where to Stay in Sofia

This is the home of iconic Route 66, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Pacific Coast Highway – there are myriad bucket-list journeys to take. You’ll then be walked out to your RV, which may be wet and gleaming from the truck wash. Our technician had the engine running and the air conditioning going at full blast. He walked us around the RV, noted any existing damage, and quickly explained how things worked.

How much does it cost to stay in campgrounds?

That’s why Cruise orders special durability features, extra safety features, and easy to operate features with every rental coach. We order our coaches "bullet proof" for the typical renter to operate and thus prevent hard use by renters. We reserve the right to restrict travel, dependent on current road conditions. Winter (December-March) is the quietest time of year to visit, as temperatures drop below freezing. The weather can be snowy and unpredictable during this time. If you like winter sports, this is the best time to visit for skiing Mount Vitosha or nearby Bansko.

RV rental rates

With RV rentals, one-way trips from your old home to your new home are relaxing and fun – not harried and stressful. Plus, you’ll save on hotels and other expenses during your trip. You can even pack some of your household items into your RV.

Long service time reimbursements

So we can’t say that Cruise America is a bad place to rent an RV from. With everything above in mind, we’d like to present to you the advantages and disadvantages of RV rental with Cruise America, as well as what we really think of Cruise America. In some cases, a process called reassignment is utilized by Cruise America. The company basically transfers your information to the relevant tolling authority. But for cases when the rented RV breaks down, Cruise America offers nice support to the clients. The Vehicle Provisioning Kit includes kitchen-related items like bows, forks, knives, plates, and many other things.

Where can I get an RV rental from Cruise America?

And be sure to allow plenty of travel days to reach that destination. Drop fees may be increased or decreased based on pick-up or drop-off location, dates and vehicle availability. Upon confirmation, the $300 reservation down payment is not refundable. If you’re backpacking Sofia, expect to spend about 60 BGN per day.

For other cases, Cruise America will pay the tolling authority directly. However, Cruise America will impose a $10 administrative fee on you and charge the credit card you used for rental. If you plan to tow a car or boat behind the motorhome, keep in mind that Cruise America imposes towing charges of $25 per night. Given that Cruise America rents out RVs for at least 7 days, your fees per night will likely quite easily exceed the $300 down payment deposit. Speaking of cash, the $500 security deposit needs to be paid with a credit card. If you are using any means other than a credit card, the security deposit charge will be $1,000.

More Trips. Exclusive Deals.

As of this writing, the app itself isn’t terribly useful, except for those orientation and troubleshooting videos. You may find yourself without good cell service on your trip, so download those videos in advance in case you need to reference them. Choosing where to camp is a subject for another post, but we recommend visiting KOA, Good Sam, and especially RV Parky.

Instead, you can book a one-way RV rental from any of our 132 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. I personally think the best time to visit is spring (April-May) or fall (September-October). Both seasons have pleasant temperatures, fewer tourist crowds, and lower prices. The foliage around Mount Vitosha is spectacular during the fall, making for some excellent hiking.

If a repair service costing over $75 isn’t documented by Cruise America, you will not be provided with a reimbursement. The Personal Kit costs $60 per person, while the Vehicle Provisioning Kit costs $110 per vehicle. Since these will likely depend on the area you will be renting the RV from, it is difficult to say how much tax you will have to pay. Cruise America calls their daily rental rates Flex Rates since they vary over time, and sometimes quite significantly. If you book an RV early and there are plenty of them available, the daily rental rate will be lower for you. A thing to note is that for certain rental applications like Bonnaroo or Burning Man, Cruise America may impose increased charges at their own discretion.

Cruise FareOf course, when most people think of the cost of a cruise, they are thinking mainly of the price of the cruise fare. This fare is what the cruise line charges for you to sail on the ship.

Think that the cost of a cruise is simply the fare that you pay to get on the ship? While that makes up the lion’s share of your spending, there’s a lot more that goes into the cost of your vacation. We have specific estimates (using actual figures from the cruise lines!) below. Luxury cruises can include mega yachts that fit around 100 people up to mid-sized ships. They have the lowest passenger-to-crew ratios and service is much more personal.

The entire industry was shut down for almost all of 2020 and slowly made its return in 2021. After 2023, we can say that cruising is back with ships sailing at full capacity. If you fly in for your cruise, then you need to factor in your airfare. We also suggest anyone flying in to arrive the day before you sail and get a hotel room, just to avoid any delays that might cause you to miss your ship. Don’t forget to factor in the cost of transportation to get to and from the cruise ship. From room types to when you sail to the cruise line you pick, they all have an impact on what you’ll spend.
